Frequently Asked Questions
Your Chartered Physiotherapist will be registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) and insured via membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP). Our physiotherapists have full professional liability insurance and up to date DBS certificates.
Initial physiotherapy appointments will take up to 60 minutes to allow time for your therapist to take a detailed history. Self-fund follow-up appointments are 50 minutes long.
Your physiotherapist will ask you a variety of questions at the start so we can agree on the best course of treatment for you. After this, we will take a full assessment of your movement, strength, walking pattern analysis and various other measures. We will design an updated home exercise programme for you at the end of the session.
Your physiotherapist will need to take a detailed look at the treatment area, so we recommend wearing light clothing: shorts, for example following knee surgery.
Surgery can create many challenges and you may find that some have not been discussed with you before the operation. As well as the obvious physical effects, you may be aware of changes in mood. We are here to answer any worries or concerns you may have.
If you are going to be paying for treatment yourself, then there is no need to go to your GP first. If you will be using private medical insurance, please check your policy as some companies require a GP referral before they will cover your treatment.
Post Op Home Physio is recognised by most of the major insurance companies. To go ahead with treatment, we need your policy number, authorisation code, and the number of sessions you have been given.
The following insurers will cover the full cost of your treatment:
There are many benefits of having physio after surgery at home rather than in a clinic. We can come at a time that suits you, there are no travel or parking costs, we can assess you in an environment that is familiar to you. You will not need specialist gym or clinic equipment: we can adapt whatever you have in your home.
There is no set number. This will be guided by your physiotherapist after a detailed initial assessment. We apply a 10% discount to a block booking of five follow up sessions.
